Springfield Plein Aire (SPA) is a free outdoor painting group -- that has moved indoors for the winter months. From November through March, SPA will paint inside at Artworx, 938 E. Walnut. Still life arrangements are set up for painting -- and sometimes the group has a clothed model for a subject. Painting sessions are free and open to all who might be interested, start after 9 a.m. on Thursday mornings with parking on Walnut Street or in the back parking lot. Jeanie Morris, the owner of Artworx invites artists to, "Come and join the fun!"

From April through October, SPA meets every week to paint outside. Outdoor sessions will start up again in April 2008 on Thursday mornings, and the schedule of meeting places is sent out ahead by email. No need to RSVP -- all you do is show up if you want to.

The group is made up of artists of varying talents. The more accomplished painters are very helpful and supportive to those who are new or struggling with their painting. For more information please email Monty Kile at montykile@hotmail.com

“I could not be more excited about this opportunity, it is both an honor to be invited in by Drew and to share a blog with Bill. For the record my wife Lisa and I are legal immigrants from Australia. My title refers to the fact that now having space on a blog means that I wont just be leaving hit and run comments like I have on Drew's and many other blogs over the past two years. Waldo Chambers, of Camdenton, MO, has spent the majority of his life as a jazz musician, only recently entering into the world of visual arts. The Pool Art Center Gallery is proud to be exhibiting his first ever show of drawings.

A contemporary Native American fine arts exhibition titled Native Views: Influences of Modern Culture, featuring over 60 Native American artists influenced by popular culture. Artrain USA is the nation's only art museum on a train. It travels across the country, changing exhibits every three years. Six additional days have been scheduled to allow over 4000 children from Springfield Public Schools, home schoolers, and the Boys & Girls Clubs, to visit the exhibit.

First Friday Art Walk

Downtown Springfield, Mo.

On the first Friday of every month, downtown will be packed with new art, live music, and good food. New exhibits of sculpture, paintings, photography, glass and ceramics at the 12+ galleries will be up. Chat with old friends on the street and make some new ones too.
